AB  - The Bi0.5As1.5Te2.98Se0.02 single crystal in 11 mm × 80 mm size was grown using the Bridgman method. Energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) analysis was used to determine the chemical composition of the studied samples, as well as for checking and confirming the homogeneity of the samples. Mobility, concentration of charge majority carriers and Hall coefficient of single crystal, were determined using a Hall Effect system based on the Van der Pauw method. Hall Effect was measured at room temperature with four ohmic contacts and at temperature of liquid nitrogen with silver contacts with an applied magnetic field strength of 0.37 T at different current intensities. The expected improvement in the mobility of obtained single crystal doped with this content of arsenic was not obtained.

AB  - This paper describes a part of the experimental procedure for testing the performance of grinding media (steel balls) during the smelting slag milling, as well as the modeling procedure and model results that predict the consumption of balls under given experimental conditions. Firstly, the most suitable mineral raw material for testing the durability of the grinding media was defined. In laboratory conditions, it was determined that it is most expedient to use slag from the melting process of Pb-Zn concentrate for testing. The coarse moisture content was determined on the initial slag sample, while the particle size composition and Bond work index were determined on the crushed slag samples. In accordance with the characteristics of the raw material, the technical-technological parameters of the system for wet grinding of slag were defined, in which the balls durability test was performed. The obtained results showed that the consumption of grinding media is about 1 kg/t of slag. Six ANN models, developed on the basis of experimental results, showed good predictive abilities when it comes to stel balls consumption. As a result of modeling, high correlation coefficients were obtained, the value of which was about R = 0.99.

AB  - In order to study the effect of Zr doping on the thermoelectric properties of p-type Bi10.17Sb30.72 Zr0.35Te58.28Se0.48 single crystal, аn ingot was prepared by Bridgman method. Cut and cleaved samples from different regions of ingot were characterized by a Hall Effect based on the Van der Pauw method. The first measurements were conducted with four ohmic contacts at room temperature and the obtained results were presented in our investigation, earlier. Аlso, high charge carriers mobility was obtained on the sample with silver contacts at the temperature of liquid nitrogen. Single crystal was characterized by Seebeck coefficient (S), conductivity (κ) and resistivity (ρ) measurements as а function of temperature in the range of 40-320°C by a home-made impedance meter. The prepared single crystal has a figure of merit (Z) of 1.22 x 10-3 K-1 at 300°C.
AB  - У циљу проучавања утицаја допирања Zr на термоелектричне особине монокристала Bi10.17Sb30.72 Zr0.35Te58.28Se0.48 п-типа, припремљен је ингот Бриџмановом методом. Сечени и цепани узорци из различитих делова ингота испитивани су Холовим ефектом заснованим на Ван дер Пауовој методи. Прва мерења су спроведена са четири омска контакта на собној температури и добијени резултати су представљени у нашим истраживањима раније. Такође, добијена је висока покретљивост носиоца наелектрисања и на узорку са сребрним контактима на температури течног азота. Монокристал је испитиван мерењима Зебековог коефицијента (S), мерењима проводљивости (κ) и отпорности (ρ) у опсегу температуре од 40-320°C мерачем импедансе домаће израде. Добијени монокристал има вредност фактора квалитета (Z) од 1.22x10-3 K-1 на 300°C.

Cobalt extraction from spent lithium-ion battery cathode material using a sulfuric acid solution containing SO2

AB  - To increase the degree of cobalt (Co) extraction, the process of the cathode material leaching was performed in a sulfuric acid (H2SO4) solution containing sulfur dioxide (SO2) as a reducing agent. To provide a high resolution of the obtained results, frequent monitoring of Co concentrations in leached solution was conducted using an ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometer with several specific modifications related to the connection of the reaction vessel with the instrumental cuvette. The maximum degree of Co leaching (99.4%) was achieved with H2SO4 concentration of 3 mol/L, solid phase concentration of 33 g/L, temperature of 85 °C, SO2 volume flow of 2 L/min, and leaching time of 60 min. The results of the performed kinetic analyses indicated that the Avrami equation best describes the investigated leaching process, which later was supported by the results of X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy–energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analyses. Also, the activation energy of 28 ± 3 kJ/mol is in favor of the fact that the process of Co leaching was controlled by the factors, such as diffusion and chemical reaction. The results of this study indicated that SO2 can be used as an effective reducing agent in the investigated process.

AB  - This study investigates the electrochemical stability of the gold complex based on mercaptotriazole at an optimum pH of nine in the electrolyte with a gold concentration of 2.5 g dm(-3). The stability of the complex was studied by visual monitoring and electrochemical characterization of electrolytes over a period of 1 year. Electrochemical characterization of the mercaptotriazole gold complex was performed using open circuit potential measurement, cyclic voltammetry, recording the polarization curves, pH, and conductivity of the electrolyte. Electrochemical characteristics and visual appearance of the mercaptotriazole gold complex at a pH similar to 9 were not significantly changed for one year, with no changes in its visual appearance. The results of this study are important for industrial applications in order to replace cyanide electrolytes with a stable organic complex.

Investigation of the optimal technology for copper leaching from old flotation tailings of the copper mine Bor (Serbia)

AB  - This work aimed to investigate optimal leaching technology for copper extraction from old flotation tailings of the Copper Mine Bor. The leaching degree of copper after leaching with sulphuric acid at 80 degrees C was 50%, the maximal leaching degree was achieved after 30 minutes. Then, old flotation tailings were leached with adapted moderately thermophilic acidophilic bacteria in a bioreactor at 40 degrees C. Maximal leaching degree of 84% was achieved after nine days of the experiment. The third leaching experiment was conducted with biogenic lixiviant obtained by bacterial oxidation of the ferrous iron (concentration of Fe3+ 1300 mgL(-1), pH 2.14). Biogenic lixiviant with ferric sulphate was then used in the leaching experiment at 80 degrees C. Maximal leaching degree was 78%, and it was achieved after five minutes. Results of the leaching experiments show that the most efficient technology for copper recovery from the old flotation tailings of the Copper Mine Bor was leaching with biogenic lixiviant.
