Fine and ultra fine milling and coating of limestone
Abstract
In the present study the results of micronization of limestone coating from the "Vencac"- Arandjelovac deposit are presented. Tests comprised the following: (i) Procedure of micronization-limestone fine and ultra fine grinding, (ii) Procedure of micronizated limestone coating in laboratory conditions. Experimental results showed that limestone micronization procedure was successfully performed in the mill "Kontrapleks", when 100% of class -0,10+0,00 μm was produced. In order to obtain different assortments, this product was air classified in "Turboplex". The limestone fine powder coating with stearic acid was successfully performed in the vibro mill with rings (model "KHD Humboldt Wedag"). Coating efficiency was tested using the microscopic immersion method (water immersion). Coating efficiency was investigated on samples treated with 1%, 2% and 3% of stearic acid. The highest coating efficiency (95%) was achieved for sample treated with 3% of stearic acid. Coating efficiency for sampl...es treated with 1% and 2% of stearic acid was 80% and 85%, respectively.
