AB - Flotation is the process of separation based on the different physical-chemical characteristics of surfaces and their ability to wet with water. The process can be used for separation the primary and secondary materials. This paper presents the results of a laboratory study separation of plastic waste. The aim is to extract the PS plastics from the PS/ABS mixture. Experiments were carried out in a Denver cell at the pH 7 in presence of the Tannic acid as a depressant, and MIBC as a frother. The results showed that the PS plastics has a higher flotation rate constant value and high quality value fover 90%). The results indicate that the ABS and PS could be successfully separated by the froth flotation under the certain conditions. The obtained results were represented by the classical model of the first-order trying to describe the kinetics of plastics flotation with a good correlation coefficient.

AB - An experimental investigation has been made into the effects of different factors on the results of screening efficiency of polymer samples. The used polyvinyl chloride (PVC) samples have equal content of `small`, `large` and `small-to large` particles and filled the whole area of the sieve in one, two and four characteristic layers during the screening. Visual examination showed that the particle shape was similar in whole particle size distribution in the one sample tested. In addition to the aforementioned variable, the other factors studied included samples shape, vibrating amplitude and the duration of screening. Analysis of the obtained results of the screening rate in laboratory conditions was performed by applying the classical and modified model of the first order screening kinetics. The results showed that high loading of the sieve requires a larger vibrating amplitude for good classification and that the high layer reduction of sample is a more effective remedy for good efficiency than prolongation of sieving time. It has also been shown that the particles shape has a significant impact on the screening rate. The modified kinetics model (Magdalinović–Trumić) of the first order describes polymer screening kinetics with very good correlation coefficient in all cases. The application of the classical model is not adequate for determining a screening rate constant since the correlation coefficients are smaller than the minimum correlation coefficient.

AB - The paper aims to show the wide application of micronized products that arise after micronization milling. Fine-tinted-micronized materials such as alumosilicates, lycones, non-metallic mineral raw materials, thanks to their physical-mechanical, physical and chemical properties (density, color, shape, reflection index, conductivity, size and structure of micro particles, etc.) production of modern new materials. They can be used as fillers, coatings, for dusting, used in processing, pharmaceutical and other industrial branches, and they are irreplaceable in the production and processing of many definite products. Micronized mineral resources represent a significant potential in remedying the harmful effects of environmental pollution, but also one of the crucial factors in preventing this same pollution.

AB - This paper presents results of investigations of the possibility of using “Gigovići”-Ulcinjlimestone (Republic Montenegro) as filler in various industry branches. Micronization methods, granulometric composition, oil and water absorption and degree of whiteness were investigated, and chemical and thermal analyses (DT/TG) were performed. Physico-chemical properties of this limestone classify it among high quality carbonate raw materials with relativelyhigh CaCO3 content of 98.16%, as well as low MgCO3 content of 1.53% and low silicate content (SiO2 0.30%). Its quality satisfies requirements of standards on using of calcium carbonate as filler in industry of paints and coatings; paper industry, rubber and PVC industry; glass industry; production of mineral fertilizers; foundry industry; sugar industry and metallurgy. Due to the low degree of whiteness (85,25%) “Gigovići” limestone cannot be used in pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry. Due to relatively high content of MgO (0,73%) and Fe (340ppm), as well as high content of heavy metals, Cu (18 ppm), Ni (24 ppm) and Cd (9 ppm), “Gigovići” limestone cannot be used, in production of cattle feed and for neutralization of acidic soils.

AB - This paper gives a review of results determining conditions of thickening and filtration of waste material from the flotation plant “Feldspar” – Bujanovac. This flotation plant last few years did not fuctiona as should be, and have many problems. Investigation of waste materials, should to enable recycling and re-use of flotation tailings. Tests of possibilities of thickening and filtration of the non-magnetic fraction of waste material sample of the class -0,063 mm after magnetic separation in laboratory conditions have been carried out within this research. Based on dewatering testing, time of thickening and calculated results have been determined.
