AB - The paper shows how the exploitation of mineral resources may lead to environmental
degradation. Planning the exploitation of certain mineral raw materials requires a detailed analysis of all
the necessary works in order to fully eliminate or reduce to a minimum any negative impact on the area
where the mining activity is performed. Also, it is important to emphasize that natural resources are very
difficult to renew, so in case of uncontrolled exploitation, danger of permanent loss occurs. Therefore,
the exploitation of mineral raw materials should be based on the principles of sustainable development,
and the measures for the protection of the space where the exploitation is performed should be carried
out according to the prescribed rules and legal provisions.

AB - This work presents a grinding process of monoammonium phosphate (MAP) as an active component in a powder fire extinguisher (PFE). The aim was to determine the grinding time for reaching the optimal particle size of MAP necessary for permanent fire extinguishing. MAP grinding was performed by using a laboratory ceramic ball mill and a vibrating cup mill. The grinding process was controlled by sieving using a 100 mu m sieve at precisely defined time intervals. The efficiency of a PFE depends on the share of the-100 mu m fraction of the active component, which has to exceed 60 %. The optimal grain size with 64 % of fraction of particle size-100 mu m was obtained after 33 min of grinding of =3000 mu m mm grain size MAP by using a ball mill (single-stage grinding). In two-stage process, by grinding the same initial MAP sample (=3000 mu m) in the vibro mill for 10 min, powder with the upper limit grain size of 300 mu m and the mean grain diameter of 120 mu m was obtained. This sample with a reduced size was further ground in the ceramic ball mill yielding 67.5 % of the fraction of particle size 100 mu m after 19 min. The total time of the two-stage grinding process was 29 min. By analyzing the grinding time of MAP required to get the lowest required share of the fraction of particle size-100 mu m that provides the effectiveness of formed PFE it can be concluded that 64 % of this fraction was obtained after 33 min of single-stage grinding, while only after 26 min in the two-stage process. Thus, the grinding time was reduced by 7 min indicating certain energy savings. Stability and hydrophobicity of the obtained PFE were achieved by coating with magnesium stearate (MgSt) at the content of 2 % in a ball mill for 15 min. The coating was confirmed by the standardized procedure for verification of PFE hydrophobic properties in contact with water drops. To obtained PFE had component mass ratios of MAP:AS:CC:QS:MgSt=55:20:18:5:2 (AS-ammonium sulfate; CC-calcium carbonate, QS-quartz sand) and was further characterized by chemical and granulometric analyses. The fire extinguishing efficiency of the PFE was tested in controlled conditions, whereby fires were initiated by burning solid materials and flammable liquids. In both cases, immediate elimination of flames was achieved, thus proving the efficiency of the PFE obtained in this work for practical applications..

AB - This paper presents theoretical considerations and working parameters analyzes of hydrotransport during unstable flow. The variable flow of hydraulic mixture in installations causes unsteady operation and pipes spraying, pump damage, obturation in various sections of the pipeline, reduced capacity as well as higher operating costs. Using mathematical equations presented in this paper, such parameters of the hydraulic mixture, hydrotransport installation and control devices can be determined which protect system from possible clogging. Considering the fact that critical speed of hydraulic mixture depends on transported material grain size, mixture volume mass, diameter of pipeline and specific gravity of solid phase, it is possible to accurately analyze obturation in hydrotransport installations depending on those parameters. In order to prevent hydraulic impacts in hydrotransport installation pipelines, which value can be determined mathematically, it is necessary to adjust installation to hydromixture parameters and pump, or vice versa.

AB - To use quartz sand for water glass production, processing of raw quartz
sand is necessary. The objectives of processing are: achieving the required
granulometric composition, increasing the content of SiO2 and reducing the content
of impurities that lower its quality. The most frequently used method is the attrition
cleaning in combination with gravity and magnetic concentration. In order to
eliminate quartz sand impurities to a greater extent, it is approached to different
methods of preparing mineral raw materials, which depends of the content and
type of impurities as well as on the way they appear (as individual grains, surface
coatings on quartz grains or as a form of intergrowth with quartz). The size
reduction processes are used when it comes to sandstone or large-grained sand,
whereby the size decreases up to 0.6 mm. Besides that, washing, attrition
scrubbing, grading and also gravity, flotation, and magnetic concentration are
used. Desliming, washing, and grading procedures are used almost always
because there is clay present in the quartz raw material as impurities. The
scrubbing procedure in attrition machines is used when the quartz surface is
kaolinized and limonitised. The flotation concentration is used when in raw material
beside the quartz, there is mica and feldspar, with preceding washing and grading
procedures to eliminate the clay component. That is so-called „reverse“ flotation
consisting of flotating mica and feldspar is applied, and the pure quartz remains in
the pulp. The magnetic separation process is used when in quartz raw material are
also magnetic impurities type Fe2O3 as carriers of total iron. Efficacy of the removal
of iron is expressed as a rate of reduction of Fe2O3. In the company „Kesogradnja
d.o.o.“ at Kozluk, near Zvornik (Republic of Srpska) from quartz sand deposit
„Bijela Stijena Skočić“, quartz sand for the production of water glass was obtained
by the procedures of washing, grinding, sizing and magnetic separation.

fazi proizvodnje klinkera (proizvod procesa pečenja cementa prilikom spravljanja portland cementa).
upotrebu alternativnih materijala.

fazi proizvodnje klinkera (proizvod procesa pečenja cementa prilikom spravljanja portland cementa).
upotrebu alternativnih materijala.

Therefore, it is important to analyze the negative impact of technological processes, in order to adopt the strategy and define activities for implementation adequate environmental protection rates. One of the major problems in environmental protection is the emergence of greenhouse gas emissions. The world's organizations dealing with environmental protection provide a great stimulus for the development of innovative sustainable solutions in the construction industry. Thus, one of the priorities in cement industry is finding new ways to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions with point on clinker production plants as the biggest CO2 emitter (the product of the baking process during the portland cement process). In such a way new solutions reduce the amount of clinker, while at the same time, they encourage the use of alternative materials. Materials that can replace the use of cement (supplementary cementitious materials - SCM) as well as mixtures of cement, offer advantages in better characteristics, lower energy consumption and emissions of gases that produce greenhouse effect.

AB - The paper presents the process of quartz sand processing from the "Bijela Stijena" - Skocic deposit in the plant "Kesogradnja d.o.o." at Kozluk near Zvornik, Republic of Srpska. Bearing in mind the fact that this quartz sand is used for water glass production in the company "Birac" - Zvornik or "Alumina" Zvornik, it was necessary to meet the quality requirements prescribed by that industrial production. Thus, the required size was -0.4+0.05 mm and the Fe2O3 content was maximum of 0.04%. Based on the laboratory tests, a technological scheme for the quartz raw material valorization was conceived in the separation of the company "Kesogradnja d.o.o.". The obtained results showed that quartz sand for water glass size fraction -0.4+0.05 mm could be obtained in the plant. Also, by introducing a magnetic concentration after washing and grading, the Fe2O3 content was reduced from 0.131% as it is in the initial sample to 0.038% which meets the required conditions from the water glass producers.

AB - The main problem of hydraulic transport is the resistance generated during the mixture transport through the pipe-line. Testing the flow characteristics of mixtures, shown in this paper, are based on the principles of determining the unit energy losses by a mathematical calculation using the non-linear regression - the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. Such obtained results allow determining a transport rate in the horizontal pipe-line, depending on the mixture bulk density and pipe-line diameter. The flotation tailings is mainly used as a filling material in the mine "Trepca" - Stari Trg. According to the grain size distribution, it is a fine-grained material of a size of 0.074 mm to 1.2 mm. It is a multicomponent material containing pyrite, pyrrhotine and other heavy metals, and therefore, has a high bulk mass. The average rate of the hydromixture, in which the energy losses reach the minimum value, depends on the pipe-line diameter and kinetic bulk density of the mixture. For the test interval of change in the pipe-line diameter, shown in this paper (0.168 mm, 0.176 mm, 0.193 mm, and 0.225 mm), and kinetic bulk density of the hydraulic mixture (1-1.6 kg/m(3)), this rate ranges from 3-5.5 m/s. The increase of the energy losses in the hydraulic mixture transport increases proportionality with the increase of its kinetic bulk density. The results, presented in this paper, show that the required bulk density of 1.6 kg/m(3) should be accepted as a limit from a point of view of the hydraulic transport cost-efficiency.

AB - Quality of raw materials, including quartz sand and quartzite, varies from one deposit to another. Furthermore, the material quality determines in which industrial branches it can be used after certain preparation processes. Potential applications of quartz raw materials are: in the construction and refractory industry, ceramics and glass industry, then in metallurgy, foundry and also in production of water treatment filters. Geological investigations of the central Serbia region, in the Rekovac municipality, resulted in identification of occurrence of quartz sand ("Ursula") and quartzite ("Velika Krusevica"). Preliminary laboratory tests and characterization of the quartz sand size fraction -0.63+0.1 mm confirmed the possibility of applying this size fraction in the construction materials industry, while the quartzite can be used in refractory, glass and metallurgy industries. After determining the geological reserve of quartz sand "Ursula" and quartzite "Velika Krusevica", detailed investigations are required. Quality conditions from the aspect of chemical composition and physical properties of quartz sand and quartzite are mostly clearly defined by a special standard for this purpose. On the other hand, there are also application areas where standards does not exist, but users define their quality conditions. This example is with the application of quartz sand in the production of water glass. Chemical composition as well is not always the determining factor for the application of quartz raw material. For example, for quartz sand used for sandblasting, grain form is essential. From the economic analysis point of view, the prices of quartz raw materials vary depending on their chemical and physical properties. After all, what needs to be pointed out is the fact that these raw materials are very widespread in nature and that their exploitation is quite simple. After the raw material is excavated, it is stored and further sieved, washed, dried and processed according to customer requirements. All of these processes are cheaper than preparing, for example, limestone, and significaly cheaper than preparation of metal ores.

AB - This paper analyzes the formation of cavitation damages depending on the technology of fabrication, structure and properties of basalt from the Vrelo-Kopaonik deposit. The methodology for monitoring the level of damage caused by cavitation and estimation the material life span base on parameters was developed: change in the mass loss, measurement the degradation level of the sample surface, dynamics of the formation of pits, changes in their average area surface, determination the line profile. A change in the surface morphology with the test time was followed by a scanning electron microscopy. The level of surface degradation of samples was quantified using the image analysis. The results indicate that the cast basalt has a high degree of cavitation resistance.

AB - Hydrogen is considered to be be the fuel of the future. Fuel cells allow that the change of Gibbs function can provide maximum electrical work. Activation with mechanochemical treatment of mineral matter represents a technology that enables us to get fuel with high heat of combustion. The hydrogen generator represents a mechanochemical reactor or a mill with balls in whose operating cylinder is the metal creator in view of grinding bodies, water and abrasive. It is interesting to notice the fact that we calculated the work of the mill (reactor) in the dimension A(=) Jmol-1. It is also important the fact that one of the balls in a mill (reactor) mass m = 6.5 g, in the process of MH treatment, with its operation on the mineral grain size d = 100 um creates the pressure of 0.65 MPa.

AB - The aim of this work is to analyze the impact and the potentials of multiple criteria decision-making methods (MCDM) especially focusing on its application in the field of sustainable solutions to waste problems. To demonstrate the applicability of MCDM methods in the field of mineral processing, the fly ash pellets selection problem was considered. Studies reported in this paper used three selected size fractions of pelletized fly ash, from power plant Nikola Tesla —B, Obrenovac, obtained at different amounts of the binder. Physical-mechanical properties of pellets samples were tested, afterwards the complex methods of multi-criteria decision making was presented, with the objective to determine adequate pellets for producing lightweight concrete. The criteria weighting was performed firstly, by AHP method, afterwards a decision model was applied, by using TOPSIS method. Fly ash pellets were ranked and the results obtained that the best pellet quality was archived for mean diameter (D9) of 11.21 mm and 8.36 mm, with compressive strength
of 6 MPa.
